This comprehensive analysis of the molecular events that occur along the Peg13-Kcnk9 imprinted domain during neuronal commitment suggests a non-canonical CTCF-mediated insulator model. Our data support the hypothesis that although CTCF binds to many imprinting control regions, its function may not be universal at imprinted loci where it may act through different mechanisms.
